Most cleaning companies start with a van and a listing. We started with a support worker who kept seeing the same problem and could not find anyone willing to fix it properly.

Why a support worker started a cleaning business
The background
Years in positive behaviour support
Our founder worked in positive behaviour support, going into homes to help people manage the conditions and circumstances affecting their behaviour. The pattern was hard to miss: for a large number of clients, the single biggest obstacle to progress was the state of the property they were living in.
The gap
Nobody wanted the difficult jobs
Support plans would recommend a deep clean, and then nothing would happen. Standard cleaning companies declined hoarded properties outright. House clearance firms would empty a house in a day without asking the resident, and the property was back in the same state within a year.
The decision
HTM Cleanning Ltd was formed
So we set up a cleaning company built for exactly that work — trained for biohazard and hoarded conditions, run on consent rather than clearance, and staffed by people briefed that they are helping a person, not managing a mess.
Now
Domestic, commercial and everything between
We work across Watford and Hertfordshire from our base on 84A Whippendell Road, covering regular domestic cleaning, deep cleans, end of tenancy, office contracts and commercial premises — alongside the hoarded property work that started it all. Same standard, same staff, whichever one you book.
If it is not a standard I would accept in my own home, it does not leave our schedule.

Every company publishes values. These are the four we actually turn work down over.
Clean with care
Our motto, and the test we apply to every job. Care means the resident's dignity comes before our schedule — we work at their pace, we ask before we move anything, and we never make anyone feel judged in their own home.
Say what we will do, then do it
Every job starts with a written scope and a fixed price. If we get the estimate wrong, that is our problem, not yours — the price does not change on the day. If we miss something, we come back free.
Employ, do not subcontract
Our cleaners are on our payroll, trained by us, uniformed and DBS-checked. It costs more than using self-employed labour off a listings site. It is also the only way to guarantee a standard.
Do the hard jobs properly
Hoarded properties, biohazard cleans, void flats nobody else will quote on. These are the jobs the company was founded to do, and we would rather be known for them than for being the cheapest hourly rate in Watford.

Every cleaner clears the same six steps
We are letting someone into your home or your business, often when you are not there. That only works if the vetting is real and the training is not a leaflet. Nobody works unaccompanied for HTM until all six of these are done.

- Training on colour-coded equipment and cross-contamination
- Briefing on discretion and client confidentiality
- Shadowing an experienced cleaner before working alone
- Uniform, ID and a named supervisor from day one
